| WHERE DO YOU LIVE? I moved to North Seattle in November 2005. Previously I lived in Skagit Valley, Washington, on and off for 20 years. Awesome riding up there. HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU FIRST GOT INTO RIDING AND WHAT GOT YOU INTERESTED IN IT? I had the opportunity to ride ATVs and dirt bikes from about 8 years old through my early teens. I rode ‘bitch’ or ‘bob’ for many years with my brothers and uncles on their various Japanese bikes and occasional Harley. I dated a few guys with bikes later on, but I decided by my early 20s that I would be driving my own bike eventually. I loved riding so much, but hated some of the stupid stunts that my escorts pulled in the driver’s seat. WHAT TYPE OF MOTORCYCLE DO YOU OWN OR WANT TO OWN? I ride a 95 Suzuki Intruder 800 regularly, I’ve logged about 4,500 miles on her since March ’05 I love my cruiser, but…. I’m interested in buying a sport bike for my second bike. Hopefully at LEAST a 750, but preferably a liter bike like a GSX-R1000 or CBRR929. DO YOU BELONG TO ANY MOTORCYCLE CLUBS? IF SO WHAT ONES? I have been invited to join several, most notably a drunken offer to park my bike and jump on with the Banditos… but I ride with the Red Bellied Warblers. Just friends and family. I love that our bikes are so varied… from cruisers to café racers to monster sport bikes and of course a fully dressed Harley. HAVE YOU PARTICIPATED IN ANY SPECIAL EVENTS? I rode the Women’s Run hosted by Scooter Stuff last year, that felt like a club…. Rowdy Broads On Bikes! I also did Oyster Run and a couple of cruises up to Diablo Dam on the North Cascades pass with a tightly formed group. The International Motorcycle Show was fun this year, although it was pretty dealership-oriented for my taste. The classic bikes were cool, and I got to sit on a LOT of bikes and lick the chrome on some hot choppers! ANY OTHER INFORMATION YOU'D LIKE READERS TO ABOUT YOU? Someday I’ll also have a “survival bike”… maybe a sweet BMW dual-sport with fuel canisters and massive storage that I can ride around the world on!! WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IN A MAGAZINE FOR WOMAN MOTORCYCLE RIDERS? Reviews on bikes that fit short people and short-legged people, highlighting specs on seat height and the bike’s weight full of fluids, info on custom seats for bigger butt (oh I *love* my custom gel seat), Chippendale's on pink Japanese bikes! Interviews with female riders, advice for riding with a group and with just your partner, and maybe an easy list of Motorcycle Safety Foundation classes to encourage women to take them. |
